Jonah Tolchin is a young singer / songwriter and folk and blues performer who mesmerizes audiences with his resonant voice, masterful guitar playing, foot-stomping rhythms, and lyrical original songs.
Jonah was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and began to play guitar at the age of 14, when he became a passionate blues guitarist. At age fifteen he appeared at Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry, New Hampshire, with blues legend Ronnie Earl. Now at nineteen, he plays everything from roots and Americana music, old time folk and acoustic blues, to electric funk, but he likes to settle down in the in-between places.
Since 2008 Jonah has been lead guitarist and vocalist in the New Hampshire-based trio Uncle Fran's Breakfast. In May 2011 UFB opened forBrown Bird at Studio 99.
Jonah has written over 30 songs and has just released his first five-song demo album, Eldawise, which includes four original songs and one Robert Johnson classic blues number. Jonah sings and plays all of the instruments on this album: acoustic guitar, electric guitar, slide guitar, harmonica, mandolin, banjo, keyboard, drums, and percussion.
Jonah is currently working on his next and first full length record "Criminal Man" which will be released spring 2012.
It was recorded at a combination of "Dirt Floor Studios" in Chester CT with Eric Lichter, and "The Columbus Theater" with Ben Miller and Dan Lefkowitz of The Low Anthem.It features many artists including
