Kevin Casey (b.1987) is a musician and songwriter. He has been playing music since he first starting teaching himself guitar when he was twelve, and he started singing to cassettes and cds a few years before that. When he was twelve, he dreamt one night of a voyage that he would embark on where he would travel the world playing songs that he loved. This project is the culmination of years of practice and creation where he feels he is up to the task of stepping out on this journey.
After a 3-week trip to California, Kevin realized that he could not go on with attempting a new life in a new place, settling down, and ideas like this until he fulfilled this dream. So he flew back home all the way across the country in search of the songs that he would come to create. His first EP "On Such A Night As This" is being released and has received great praise amongst friends, strangers, other musicians and venue bookers. After performing these songs in public for the first time, he knew that it was time to plan and create this journey - and so begins the preparation for USA Tour.
USA Tour is happening this summer (throughout the months of May until August) where Kevin Casey and Friends are going to be traveling cross-country and back in a most ambitious 10-week tour of this beautiful land. He has recruited some dear friends who will accompany him on parts of the trip: Dave Moson, a percussionist and guitar player from Massachusetts; as well as Austin Retzlaff, a percussionist and musician from New York - both of whom have similar dreams of traveling and performing. He is also seeking out other solo musicians and bands to share the stage and travel with on this great tour.
Kevin started writing music for this project January 1, 2012 when he resolved to shift his activities into the realization of this dream. He has played in many different styles of bands and solo projects of the years, but this project has become the closest to his heart. He writes about love, relationships, memories, travel experiences and is influenced by both his surroundings, dreams, his love of reverb, simplicity and both the realization of self and happiness.
Before the idea of USA Tour became clear to him, Kevin felt he had come to a crossroads in his life where every sign seemed to point in this direction for a course of action, it was the only thing that he felt he could devote a significant amount of energy to; a night of heavy brainstorming gave way to the clear path of USA Tour (and future subsequent tours on other continents that will follow).
Kevin is also going to be recording a new 8-song record in the coming weeks that will be ready for release before the beginning of USA Tour. At this point, this tour is DIY and he is setting it up with help from his friends. Fundraising is going to be a big part of maintaining morale and livelihood during this trip, and they are excited to meet people and make friends along the way, inspire, and grow.
