Dan Strauss has become a favorite NYC and Hudson Valley singer-songwriter with an intimate vocal style who writes openly and expressively about life, love and occasionally, his own musical instruments. Secret Heliotropes: Solid songcraft, top-shelf guitar playing, and the subtle but insistent rhythms of spoons, shakers and tamborines make Secret Heliotropes' acoustic music not quite what you'd expect from a trio of two acoustic guitars and percussion.

Band Bio:
Founded in 2008, Oobleck is six piece funk based instrumental horn band hailing from the Capital Region of New York. And when we say funk, we actually mean funked-out-afro-grunge-rock-dub-whatever. It's a melee of horns, super heavy drums and bass and your favorite type of chunky guitar riffing that leaves your ass shaking and your face grinning.
Balancing razor sharp horn lines with live group improvisation, Oobleck mesmerizes…delving fearlessly where the moment takes them. Pushing the bounds of sound, Oobleck's funk is an unbridled expression of the dark and light: a sextet's worth of energy and synergy, infusing you with the raw love of music that comes only from playing, dancing and breathing from a place deep down. In the end, it's funk to fuel your soul.
"A reincarnation of James Brown funk, mixed with jazz infusions of oolong-tea and crispy grilled cheese with jalapenos bringing the heat. A funky dance-a-thon. Hot horns, driving percussion, and a steady rhythm to welcome you in from the cold."
Band Bio:
Bryson Barnes and the New Method bring the soul sound in a box of
shoeshine. Indie rock hip hop with a voicebox and the backbone. Pure
style. Nod your head and dig it out loud when the ground rains up to a
clear blue cloud. The breath and the rhythm and the deep blue sea. Now
wouldn’t that be a thing?
Alongside Bryson, the band features longtime friends and collaborators
Rob Morse on bass (Viperhouse, Vorcza, Anais Mitchell, Strength in
Numbers), Parker Shper on keyboard (Strength in Numbers, Groundfood),
Max Bronstein on guitar (Evan Crandell and the Too Hot to Handle,
Strength in Numbers), and Dan Ryan on drums (Craig Mitchell & Motor
City, Kat Wright & the Indomitable Soul Band, Strength in Numbers).
