Last Station is the first record of San Francisco-based indie folk-rock band Zej & Calen. The duo raised money for the album through Kickstarter and hired an all-star team of local musicians to perform on the recording. The album title refers to the train of industry and progress, barreling down on the last station, the end of the line...our last chance to turn it all around.
San Francisco’s Zej & Calen have honed their musical chemistry playing Bay Area clubs, coffee houses and house concerts together for over two years. They are meticulous songwriters, producing deeply emotive lyrics and melodies that successfully bridge folk, rock, and world genres, revealing influences like Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Young, Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews. Having each been part of larger electric bands in the past, they specifically enjoy the acoustic nature of this current joint project. They\'ve shared bills with rising San Francisco artists like Kelly McFarling, Goodnight Texas, Mana Maddy, Sonya Cotton, Lia Rose, and others.
