Klezwoods is a Boston-based amalgam of strings, horns, and percussion that melds the spirit of traditional klezmer and balkan music with modern grooves, improvisation and east coast attitude.

Every player comes from a different background, which creates the band’s unique sound and style. They originally got their start some years back when local Cambridge, MA haunt, Atwood’s Tavern, asked soon-to-be-bandleader Joseph Kessler to put together a group of klezmer musicians during Christmas time for a “klezmer Christmas” event. Thus, Klezwoods was born, and continues to captivate audiences all over the world.

The Queen City Social Club—the events and party wing of WOMM, The Radiator—is proud to present Record Club. Every other Saturday afternoon we set up our turntables at the Radio Bean and let the crowd be the DJ. The very first installation of Record Club goes down Saturday April 3, 2010 from 3 to 5 pm. All genres are welcome and you can even get on the mic to tell everyone why your song is your song. The only rules are that it’s got to be on vinyl (leave your iPod at home) and it can’t be super long so everyone gets their turn.

QCSC are not just a bunch of vinyl-loving Luddites. The whole Record Club will be broadcast live on The Radiator 105.9 FM WOMM-LP and recorded as a podcast for HYPERLINK "http://www.theradiator.org" www.theradiator.org.

Joe Cannizzaro mesmerizes the audience with thoughtful rhythmic pulse on his upright bass and old-school gritty vocals. Electric Halo explores the more ambient side of music and creates soundscapes blending electric guitar loops, delicate synth runs and experimental musical saw playing. The music, at times, goes from dark scary thematic to happy joyful unstructured and then back again. It has elements of the slightly familiar blended with the completely unimaginable, composed music mixed with the music of the moment. Each show is a very unique experience.

The band came about in April of 2005. It was the idea of Burlington, Vermont musicians Joe Adler (electric guitar, efx, loops, drums, percussion and verse) and Johnnie Day (musical saw and electric keyboards.) Both had played together in Joe's acoustic project but found that the acoustic music could only go so far, Electric Halo was the next logical step. The first show was played in May of 2005 at the Radio Bean and was just the two of them experimenting with original ambient compositions as well as covering music from Radiohead to Rogers and Hart.

In the shows that have followed, the core has been joined by many different local guest musicians including guitarist Jonny Aquadora from Magic Sparkle, baritone guitar twanger Brett Hughes from Monoprix, drummer Joe Adams from Sons Of Dawn, the mystical Mickey & Posie from The Mickey Western Band, accordion virtuoso David Symons from The Black Sea Quartet, violinist Marnie Long from Nest Material, drummer Chris Kiper from Manifest Nextome / cccome?, pianist Shane Hardiman, and accordion player Tim Lang.

A big time of transition for the band was when they signed on to perform and compose the live score for the play 'Silent Invasion' produced by Burlington's Green Candle Theater Company. It was at this point that percussionist Jeff Campoli and synth madman Robbin Barker joined them. Together the group wove a tapestry of composed pieces to fit the mood of the science fiction drama. The production was a great success with seven sold out shows and rave reviews.

The band's most memorable performance was during it's spot opening for the Sun Ra Arkestra at the Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vermont. The band was joined onstage by Arkestra sax player Yahya Abdul-Majid for some very incredible moments.

As a pianist Tom Cleary has long-term performing associations with artists including Ellen Powell, James Harvey, Ray Vega, and Rick Davies; in recent years he has been playing keyboards and singing in a band led by bassist Mike Gordon. He has been featured on recordings with artists including his wife, singer/songwriter Amber deLaurentis (on Hey Sadie), trombonist Rick Davies (on Siempre Salsa and Salsa Nortena), vocalist Hillary Capps (A Perfect Dozen and Playlist) and tenor saxophonist Brian McCarthy - all available on iTunes - and recently the debut CD by jazz vocal trio Blue Gardenias. His performing career has also included work as an accompanist for many vocalists including Denise Whittier, Juliet McVicker, Taryn Noelle, Amber deLaurentis, Evita Cobo and the late Sandra Wright. As a composer he has been commissioned by groups including the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts (for whom he composed the song cycle New Seasons, Alterʼd Sky, 2004) and the choral group Social Band (his piece ʻThree Seasonsʼ, a collaboration with poet Geof Hewitt, is featured on their recent third CD ‘Those Stars’). He performs regularly with his group, the Tom Cleary Trio, and teaches jazz piano and jazz ensembles on the faculty of the UVM Music Departmentʼs Jazz Studies program.

For more than a decade pianist/sound-sculptor/songwriter Marco Benevento has been amassing an extensive resume of composition and collaboration. His studio albums have set forth a vision for music that connects the dots between Explosions In The Sky and Tortoise on one side, Brian Eno and Brad Mehldau on the other, while in the live setting his performances reverberate with pulsating dance rock energy. The 34-year old artist takes the next step forward in this evolution with his latest album, TigerFace, on which he paints his songs in a myriad of sonic colors, shimmering with acoustic piano, synths and analog keyboards. The tunes themselves seemingly conceptualized from every wisp of melody, hook and cadence that's ever tickled his ear.

Will Read was the founding member and lead guitar player of seminal VT rock group The Casual Fiasco. After spending 5 years on the road, logging in on average 200+ shows a year, headlining clubs and college campuses across the country and opening up for some of their childhood heroes, the Casual Fiasco decided to put the brakes on their life on the road. Read moved from VT down to the gritty fast paced life in NYC. While living in New York, Read put together a new group and started working on his debut album "Mathematical Hands", which was released last January. The album, funded through an amazingly successful Kickstarter campaign showcased Read's hometown style of songwriting. In the vein of Wilco and the Grateful Dead "Mathematical Hands" features songs about drug smuggling cowboys and love sick vampires.

Originally from Massachusetts, Sean Casey first made a name for himself as a teenager singing Irish folk music in the style of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and the Chieftains.

Sean started performing as a soloist and with guest musicians after college, singing modern folk rock such as songs from Jackson Browne, John Denver, John Prine, Bonnie Raitt and others. Gradually making a name for himself, he began work on his debut EP, “The Age of Ascension”, which was released in 1995 to critical acclaim.

“And a Faithful Song To Praise Thee”, a cassette only release of a live Irish music performance followed, as well as a relocation to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Sean built a following in the Northeast Kingdom as a solo artist.

The Other Bones are a Portland, Maine-based electronic soul trio comprising Andrew Mead (synth, production), Eric Bruce (gutar), and Loretta Allen (vocals). Describing his sound as “too folky for the rockers and too rocky for the folkers,” Phil blends (at least what he thinks are) clever lyrics with melodies full of hooks. On his EP Tumble Stairs, digitally released on Revolution Road in May 2011 and physically released on his own in June 2011, Phil went into the studio with a band full of friends to build on his songs. Two of the tracks, “Ninjas vs. Zombies (Let’s Keep Our Heads)” and “The Bottom of an Urn”, appear in the movies Ninjas vs. Zombies and Ninjas vs. Vampires, respectively. “The Gift of Love”, a song whose verses were written by his friends in the lo-fi legends of southern California cassette culture Wckr Spgt, also appeared on the compilation Smooth Sounds: Various Artists Play the Future Hits of Wckr Spgt. This compilation was in honor of the 20th anniversary of Shrimper Records and features bands like The Mountain Goats, Sentridoh, So Many Wizards, Jad Fair, Simon Joyner, Amps For Christ and Franklin Bruno covering Wckr Spgt songs. In February 2013, Phil Yates & The Affiliates released Oh So Sour, the follow-up full-length album to theTumble Stairs EP. Over the years, Phil has had the opportunity to open for a variety of acts (The Mountain Goats, The Dead Milkmen's Joe Jack Talcum, Franklin Bruno, Wckr Spgt, Ann Beretta, Mary Prankster), and has also shared a basket of chips and salsa with The Apples in Stereo’s Robert Schneider.

Will Read was the founding member and lead guitar player of seminal VT rock group The Casual Fiasco. After spending 5 years on the road, logging in on average 200+ shows a year, headlining clubs and college campuses across the country and opening up for some of their childhood heroes, the Casual Fiasco decided to put the brakes on their life on the road. Read moved from VT down to the gritty fast paced life in NYC. While living in New York, Read put together a new group and started working on his debut album "Mathematical Hands", which was released last January. The album, funded through an amazingly successful Kickstarter campaign showcased Read's hometown style of songwriting. In the vein of Wilco and the Grateful Dead "Mathematical Hands" features songs about drug smuggling cowboys and love sick vampires.

It wasn't long before the Green Mountains called him back, and now back living in Vermont he's prepared to re-introduce himself to the music scene that he loves so much.

The Liberty Bell Sessions is the project of Philadelphia based songwriter and guitarist Ross Bellenoit. After an initial conversation with Matt Smith (owner of the famed Club Passim in Cambridge, MA) about some way to bring a night of Philadelphia's songwriters to Boston, Mr. Smith coined the term "Liberty Bell Sessions". Come be part of it’s maiden voyage. Equal parts show and tell, mash-up harmonies, and experimentation, our intention is to give each other’s songs different lives, and to give music fans from other places the chance to check out some of Philly’s current phinest.

The first session will feature Ross Bellenoit, Birdie Busch, Chris Kasper, and Sonja Sofya. Between the four of them, they’ve graced stages with a roster as varied as Elvis Costello to Amos Lee, Regina Spektor to Richard Thompson, been on Prairie Home Companion to Whaddya Know of NPR esteem, and draw influences from just as wide a spectrum. The Venn Diagram connection here has been Ross Bellenoit’s involvement in all these songwriter’s separate projects as a stellar guitarist and visionary. Consider the Liberty Bell Sessions a fun invitation to check out the music makers who are contributing to a renaissance of song happening in the City of Brotherly Love.
